URGENT HELP NEEDED! - Save Annie from the kill shelter!

I'm posting a plea for help.

I have a dear friend...who is in need of immediate assistance!

Leah is the one who rescued my Gabe, and trained him for me.

(Gabe is my Service Dog)

(Here is Tony with Gabe - date is screwed

up on their camera, this was early last Sept.)

She and her husband, Tony, took me into their home while she worked

with the two of us.

(Leah and her Service Dog, Ace)

These two wonderful people, routinely rescue dogs on "death row",

see that they are vetted, and then work with them until

forever homes are found!

Leah is a retired RN, and certified horse/dog trainer,

and "bully breed" educator.

Tony is a Viet Nam Veteran, Recon Marine.

She and Tony, volunteer their time and talent,

to help bring dogs and families together.

They work tirelessly, to help groups pair trained dogs

with veterans with PTSD,

along with training dogs, themselves, for this purpose.

Starhaven Farm has just recently been approved as an

official Pit Bull rescue sight.

Right now, they have an emergency situation.

They are in desperate need of $300 by Sunday night.

They must complete a new kennel by tomorrow evening,

in order to save a dog that is scheduled to be put down on Monday morning. Without the additional kennel, the kill shelter will not release the dog to them.

The concrete slab in already down, and Leah and Tony will do all the labor,

but they just don't have the extra cash needed this weekend

to purchase the actual "kennel".

If we all pull together, I know that we can raise the neccessary funds,

in the next 24 hours.

Hello everyone, its Gracie here...

Mom thought that she had the perfect photo

for our Christmas Cards.
She dressed us up in our new duds

and had us sit under our beautiful
Christmas Tree.

glad that she took a really close look before printing them

all out and mailing them.

This is the perfect example of just how gross boy dogs are!

I Like My New Bed

I have terrible allergies.
I sneeze and cough all the time.
Mom was worried that my old bed was making them worse.
So, she got me a new one!

See how big it is?

She says that it's a crib mattress, whatever the heck that is.
Mom sprayed the mattress down with disinfectant.
(It sure doesn't smell as good as my old bed :-(
Then she put something called a mattress cover on it,
and topped that off with new sheets!

Now have to take a pink pill every morning
and every night.
Pink pills are perfect for girl dogs like me :-)

Mom hopes that the new bed and the pink pills
will help me to feel better.
My mom loves me a lot!

Sorry that it's been so long between posts.
Mom has the pawsword, so we have
to wait for her to let us on to the
computer:-)

George - I got very very sick during the summer.
Over half of my trachea collapsed.
I coughed and coughed, and mom said
that I sounded as if I had the Croup.
I couldn't go outside so I had
to use my litterbox all the time.
I also got put on a DIET!

I'm doing so much better now.
We went to see Dr. Denezak last week.
Just for our 6 month check up.
Mom thought that I might have
lost 2 or 2.5 lbs.
BUT
I got on the scale...
I lost 4 whole pounds.
Everyone was jumping up and down
and telling me what a good job
I had done. It was waaaaaay cool.

Here is my new skinny self!

Now it's safe for me to get my teeth cleaned again.
They will use a different protocol on me
and I'll have both Dr. Denezak and
Dr. Rushing taking care of me.
Mom can't wait,
cause she says I have bad breath.

Gracie - Yep that's for sure!!!

George - Butt out, this is my post.
I'll let you know how things go.
I have to take
antibiotics for a week,
and then I'll go get them cleaned.

This Act would amend the Internal Revenue Code to allow an individual to deduct up to $3,500 for "qualified pet care expenses" for a legally owned, domesticated, live animal.

As Americans trim budgets to make ends meet, innocent animals should not go without adequate care. Even a small tax deduction for responsible pet owners will go a long way to meet the needs of companion animals, ease the tax burden of those who own a pet (63 percent of all households) and may even encourage more people to provide loving homes to the countless animals that fill America's shelters.

Mr. MCCOTTER introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Ways and Means

A BILL

To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to allow a deduction for pet care expenses.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the 'Humanity and Pets Partnered Through the Years (HAPPY) Act'.

SEC. 2. FINDINGS.

The Congress finds the following:

(1) According to the 2007-2008 National Pet Owners Survey, 63 percent of United States households own a pet.

(2) The Human-Animal Bond has been shown to have positive effects upon people's emotional and physical well-being.

SEC. 3. DEDUCTION FOR PET CARE EXPENSES.

(a) In General- Part VII of subchapter B of chapter 1 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (relating to additional itemized deductions for individuals) is amended by redesignating section 224 as section 225 and by inserting after section 223 the following new section:

`SEC. 224. PET CARE EXPENSES.

`(a) Allowance of Deduction- In the case of an individual, there shall be allowed as a deduction for the taxable year an amount equal to the qualified pet care expenses of the taxpayer during the taxable year for any qualified pet of the taxpayer.

`(b) Maximum Deduction- The amount allowable as a deduction under subsection (a) to the taxpayer for any taxable year shall not exceed $3,500.

`(c) Qualified Pet Care Expenses- For purposes of this section, the term `qualified pet care expenses' means amounts paid in connection with providing care (including veterinary care) for a qualified pet other than any expense in connection with the acquisition of the qualified pet.

`(d) Qualified Pet- For purposes of this section-

`(1) QUALIFIED PET- The term `qualified pet' means a legally owned, domesticated, live animal.

`(2) EXCEPTIONS- Such term does not include any animal-

`(A) used for research or owned or utilized in conjunction with a trade or business, or

`(B) with respect to which the taxpayer has claimed a deduction under section 162 or 213 in any of the preceding 3 taxable years.'.

(b) Clerical Amendment- The table of sections for part VII of subchapter B of chapter 1 of such Code is amended by striking the last item and inserting the following new items:

`Sec. 224. Pet care expenses.

`Sec. 225. Cross reference.'.

I've had a ruff week.
I've had to get a BATH:-(
Seth put me in mom's shower and then hosed me down...If that wasn't bad enough, he poured soap on me...it smelled like coconut (not stinky at all;-(

I don't care for the fluffy look!

But now, at least I'm dry!

Then on Thursday night I started coughing really hard. Mom said that I sounded like I had The Croup. I didn't know what that was, but it sounded like poop - so I thought "that's a good thing". But apparently not...cause I had to go to the vets office on Friday.
Now don't get me wrong - I like going to the vets.
They are always really nice to me, and there is LOTS of good stuff to sniff...
...but mom looked so worried.
I got poked and prodded and ex-rayed.
Dr. Danezac said the good news, was that I didn't have peemonia.
The bad news, is that 1/2 of my trachea has collapsed.
Now, I'm not supposed to get hot or excited...
... and I have to take more pills ...
...and I have to go on another D*I*E*T.
I got a new bag of food and some cans of food too.
Mom started me on it last night, and I must say that the stuff tasted pretty good
BUT
I heard her say that she's starting me on green beans tonight.
What the heck did I do to deserve that?

It's soooooooooooooo hot here that the vet said that
I can only go outside to potty really early in the morning...
... like before the sun is up (and darn it - I like to sleep in)...
... and then way after it gets dark in the evening.
And I can't play around and sniff stuff - I just have to go out and get it done real quick.
The rest of the time I have to use my litter box!

Well enough about me...

A Friend in Need

We're asking all our friends to stop for a moment, and say a prayer for our mom's friend, Becky. Her little chihuahua, Sassy, is very sick. Becky doesn't know what to do. You can read about her latest trip to the vet, HERE.

My mom loves Becky dearly, so we do too. Pray that she will know what is best for little Sassy, and that she will have comfort in whatever decision that she makes. Thank you!

Eduardo's mom needs work, and dog food ain't cheap, so throw some business her way. It's easy...just click on her button right there on the left side bar. Do ya see it? Scroll down a little. It's right there under our profile.
Make sure you tell her that we sent ya!!!

Our mom's been a little "under the weather" since she had her bum knee fixed. She has trouble holding her camera while on crutches...but we're gonna be extra good, and try to hold still so that she can get some new photo's of us.

Our 2 legged sister, Suzanne, is coming for a visit this week. Mom is so excited, she's just about wet her pants several times in the last couple of days.
